partners program. The TeamVERSANT program can provide your organization with the resources and
joint marketing support necessary to build your business in creating advanced object applications.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The TeamVERSANT Partners Program is designed to encourage successful new application development using the Versant ODBMS. Versant then gives your organization the opportunity to jointly promote object solutions. Together, we can accelerate existing market momentum and acceptance of object database solutions. The program also gives Versant partners an opportunity to leverage joint successes and activities. Overall, TeamVERSANT should generate additional business for both partners and for Versant.

INDEPENDENT SOFTWARE VENDORS
ISVs offer products that build on the Versant ODBMS to provide a solution in a
vertical market or they may allow organizations to develop and manage Versant
applications more quickly and easily. Tools fall into a variety of categories including
development tools, object modeling, class libraries, configuration management tools,
and others. Curent ISVs include ParcPlace, Centerline, Protosoft, and Iona.
VALUE-ADDED RESELLERS
VARs are a class of Versant partners who embed the Versant ODBMS within
their products. Versant VARs cross industries and range from targeted vertical
solutions to software development environments. Among the scores of current VARs
are Alcatel (SONET network management), Informix (NewEra repository), Spectra╣graphics (document management),
and Ericcson RTG (PCS network operations).
REFERENCE CONSULTANTS
Independent consultants represent a critical link between Versant and customers.
Often providing critical object development and mentoring skills, consultants are
versed in many of the areas critical to the successful deployment of Versant
applications.
SYSTEMS INTEGRATORS
SI's differ from independent consultants in terms of the heavy project management
role they generally assume with customers and the scale of their operation. Versant
works with SI«s across the spectrum of industries with a particular emphasis on
telecom╣munications and utilities. Partners range from specialized development shops
all the way up to the largest firms.
PLATFORM PROVIDERS
Versant actively works with a variety of platform providers and stays abreast of the
major developments that affect customers and their distributed object applications.
Current platform partners include Sun, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, SGI, Digital,
Microsoft, and AT&T among others.

PARTNER CATALOGS
Versant periodically publishes a TeamVERSANT catalog that will list all
registered partners along with information about your products and services.
Versant also makes this information available on-line through the World Wide
Web.
JOINT TRADE SHOW AND SEMINARS
TeamVERSANT partners are invited to participate in selected trade show
exhibits and seminars that occur throughout the year. These opportunities to
highlight TeamVERSANT products and services can provide an excellent
chance to increase market awareness and interest in Versant-related solution
PRESS RELEASES
From time to time, Versant will issue joint press releases announcing
relationships or customer successes with specific TeamVERSANT partners.
JOINT SALES CALLS
TeamVERSANT partners may be invited to join Versant in selected sales calls
with prospective Versant customers. Your organization may wish to take
advantage of Versant expertise by inviting Versant representatives to
accompany your team in selected sales calls.
ACCESS TO TEAMVERSANT LOGO
In order to further promote the TeamVERSANT program, partners are
eligible to use the TeamVERSANT logo and related materials for their own
uses. In the future, we also expect to provide VARs with a special logo and tag
line for use in company materials.
INFORMATION EXCHANGES
To ensure that TeamVERSANT partners can work effectively with Versant,
we regularly exchange contact information for sales, marketing, engineering,
and support. Moreover, TeamVERSANT allows partners to have access to
Versant "Statements of Direction", and to the technical side of the Versant
Web site. This information will give partners insight into future product and
partnership activities.
ACCESS TO BETA TEST PROGRAMS
Occasionally, Versant will require candidates for testing new Versant products
and releases. Membership in TeamVERSANT makes an organization eligible
to participate in these testing programs.
POTENTIAL EXCHANGE OF PRODUCTS (ISV ONLY)
To ensure effective integration between complementary products, Versant will
request product exchanges with TeamVERSANT partners. Exchanges are for
the sole purpose of integration work ╣development of products for resale must
be handled under standard Versant licensing and pricing arrangements.
TEAMVERSANT QUALIFICATION
The TeamVERSANT program is designed to encourage the development of Versant solutions in the marketplace. To qualify for TeamVERSANT, your organization must agree to the following conditions and actions:
- Develop and market a product or service that adds value to the Versant marketplace;
- Market your products and services through your own channels, while participating in joint marketing programs with Versant;
- Complete a TeamVERSANT application and non-disclosure agreement. Members who qualify to receive Versant software must agree to terms in the Partner Software License Agreement. Contact Versant for application forms.
- Provide a full set of marketing literature for your products and services for Versant use. Should your organization desire, feel free to provide Versant with sales and positioning information that can be distributed to Versant distribution channels.
